The only reason why flat earth is a problem is that it competes with credit, citation credit. You shouldn't care if flat earthers exist, in the sense that diversity exists and so you should expect diversity in anything you can define as a set.

There are many "cute" scientific diagrams which would still be somewhat representative of reality, e.g. an aquatic food web diagram with smiling fish. Obviously fish don't smile, but that wasn't the point.
