I've been trying to replicate the "Kimpton Scent" (the aromatherapy blend that they spray into the lobbies at Kimpton hotels) for a while now, using just about every combination of blends of the essential oils they list as parts of the kimpton scent (citrus, green tea, black pepper, clove and musk).

I've spent a whole lot of money on essential oils and all I can tell is that the green tea makes up the bulk of the smell, and if clove and musk are a part of the scent, it's a miniscule part. That said it wouldn't surprise me if the website description is deceptive just to throw off the competition.

I don't know anything about perfumery. I just want my house to smell like a Kimpton hotel. The hotels aren't that special and are overpriced, but the smell they use is just wtf good. I even bought their gay little $25 poupourri satchets just so I could use as a reference and I'm still not getting it right. My blends always smell off. Is there a way for me to send a sample of real Kimpton scent to some lab and have them run some sort of analysis to figure out the proper blend of essential oils?
