>>13797587Just to make clear, once upon a time "sex" wasn't a provocative word. It is related to the word 'section' - as in to 'section' one half of the population from the other. It use to refer to the quality of being male or female, and by extension the gonads or reproductive organs.
Obviously once it turned from a noun to a verb - it became naughty, and perhaps inspired by the word 'genitalia' the euphemism 'gender' was used.
So no, there is no scientific basis for "gender" which is a euphemism for sex.
