if higher dimension exist and are the cause of our fundamental laws of physics and reality, then they seem to be pretty consistent and not meaningful in the same manner as our three spatial dimensions

I'm not into psychedelics. Most people don't know the oligarchy pushes them on creative, open types to cripple them.
But with DMT specifically, can you say it is a hallucination when everyone more or less sees the same thing?
If the brain is wired to adapt in these three dimensions does DMT open that governing mechanism to more dimensions?
Or, maybe it is just the spatial part of the brain hallucinating.

A scientist would dig deeper to prove one or the other.

"Dimensions" do not exist, like "inches" or "centimeters" do not exist.

They are an idea, or a collection of ideas deemed coincidental enough to be a model. But models are not reality.

So, you have as many dimensions as you need to. The question is, what is the minimum number (natural number? real number? complex number?) of dimensions you need to describe the reality you want to describe?

If you mean physical dimensions beyond the 3D spacial dimensions that we are used to, there are mathematical models that suggest that forces like gravity act across anti-de Sitter compact dimensions. I saw a seminar where a model for GR propagating through a compact dimension like this explained why it was so weak. It was interesting...but unfalsifiable (as of now) so more just a curiosity.
