Mine is probably Strogatz, explains things well and I like the topics his books cover. Second place maybe Nazarenko, used his Wave Turbulence book for a class and enjoyed it.

him and Griffiths are the worst authors ever. Lewis Carroll, Morin, Goldstein, Hilbert, Landau, Penrose are all decent physics ones. For math the ones that come to mind are Rudin, Lang, Arnold V., Rotman, Aluffi.

Rudin's R&CA book is very well written, as are his upper level books. Principles gets some fair criticism, the multivariable analysis could use some more discussion. However, his concision is lovely.

Bredon, like Rudin, is a concise writer. I think his book "Topology and Geometry" is a great alternative to those who dislike the wordiness of Lee and Hatcher.
