Chemistry textbook recommendation?
Experiment based, lot of experiments that I can do on my own, not some "quantum" ooga booga shit and "theoretical" shit.

I want to be able to synthesize any substance in a lab given the molecular formula, I have 10k to build a lab.

There are so many easier way to teach yourself these basic topics than buying some drab textbook you hardly understand.

EE blackboxes a lot and is overall simpler experimental design than chemistry is. u need a good grasp on lots of concepts and shit STILL goes off / wrong. things arent just datasheets, elprocus and go

Try Organic Chemistry by Morrison and Boyd. I've read the 3rd edition and it explains how different groups in organic compound react, and uses practical examples to demonstrate. For example they used the chlorination of methane to explain basic reaction mechanisms. Very nice if you have a basic understanding of chem

Start by reading a book about basic general chem (my professor made us use Whitten), then after understanding the basics grab an organic chem book (I bought Solomons and there are video lesson on youtube from poormanschemist) and after that you should
be knowledgeable enough to figure out the rest by yourself.

yeah I'm not a chemist and I'm not an expert in the field but so far this is working for me.
My next steps after finishing Solomons are electrochemistry, biochem and advanced inorganic chem, not necessarily in that order

David Kleins books are excellent.

If you want to learn fast and proficiently with no added fluff: Organic Chemistry as a Second Language.

However his full textbook Organic Chemistry (4th edition) has a bit of fluff, but Klein makes it easy to understand and conceptualize and it's far more in-depth.
