The fact that they were unwilling admit that the original plan was unrealistic and cut their losses in 2007 and instead insisted on spending over 3000% of the original budget just to launch a decade and half late only multiplies the cringe factor.
Because they wasted so much money and have a guilty conscience over it, we will now have to suffer through a decade of exaggerations and lies about the importance and significance of any data JWST might happen to gather.
