Accepting the principle of evolution, if there is light in the environment you expect eyes to evolve to refract such light and interact with the environment. Furthermore eyes are likely to evolve in stereo to better triangulate positions (you won't find Cyclops species in nature). Appendages are a feature of land organisms to interact with its environment and consume hard to reach nutrients. The minutae of details may change, like number of limbs, neck length, 8 eyes, multiple toes, etc. But the big picture large strokes of animal features are largely deterministic (to wit: the eye evolved countless times via independent lineages throughout animal history)
