Furthermore eyes are likely to evolve in stereo to better triangulate positions (you won't find Cyclops species in nature). Appendages are a feature of land organisms to interact with its environment and consume hard to reach nutrients. The minutae of details may change, like number of limbs, neck length, 8 eyes, multiple toes, etc. But the big picture large strokes of animal features are largely deterministic (to wit: the eye evolved countless times via independent lineages throughout animal history)
