Why do so many deny the existence of dissociative disorders such as DID and OSDD, even some otherwise credible psychologists? Is it simply that it "sounds fake"? Why is it so hard to believe that repeated trauma in the developmental period of childhood could disrupt the formation of a single unified sense of self? Or that the mind could compartmentalize the self into multiple "selves" in order to cope with said trauma?
