So I listened to this and it had me thinking, /sci/, if consciousness or the continuity of it defines us as sapient creatures, we probably count as a continuous being in our sleep too right? Since consciousness, if this TED talk's theoory is real, wouldn't have too many big breaks.
But what about anesthesia? Do we die under it, technically, only to be given a different 'strand' or 'serial no' for whatever is linking our brain to our conscious existence? I feel existential dread, I may have a surgery coming up soon
