Is it me? Or do people who try to support a claim by emphasizing the science side of it (ex.: "studies say...", "according to research...", "through peer-reviewed study...", etc) only have a surface-level, at best undergrad grasp of the concepts?

I certainly remember doing this back in college and high school, until further experience pummeled in how fallacious and ab auctoritate that approach is.
