no, they do not last forever, and probably, but i imagine it'd be harder and not any better than e.g. harnessing a sun's power

Small synthetic black holes would be a very useful energy source. The smaller it is the more energy it emits, and it can be fed regular matter. It converts matter to energy at 100% efficiency. The problem is creating such a small black hole, we have no technology capable of this. Ideas include colliding 2 massive spaceships at fractions of lightspeed in deep space.

Even the black holes in the centers of galaxies will eventually evaporate away with Hawking Radiation.
But we are talking around a google of years

Arthur Isaac has an awesome video on artificial intelligence utilizing black holes for power. Even theorizing one might want to throw stars into black holes inorder to have them last longer while it waits for the universe to cool for more efficient computing.
