Only for men though, women may fold to the social strata with more ease due to their natural predispositions, but damn it if the body doesn't receive a damned wake up call from getting thrashed by a phone book, electrocuted awake, or simply beaten into alertness. At the bare minimum the subconscious realizes how serious the consequences can be for failure and begins building countermeasure to the violence, including paying fucking attention. If they complain the counter argument has, is, and will always be; "real life isn't half as kind, resolve is something only survivors find."
