>>13756216No, that's not it (and I don't even use Twitter); I'm reflecting, rather than criticizing, but that's probably so rare on the internet that you didn't recognize it as such.
It's about my emotional reaction to the image; if I'd met this guy at the pub and he said this to me, I'd think "This guy's a provocateur, most likely up for a bit of a debate" and we'd have a good laugh and get the old argumentative juices flowing. I might never agree with such nonsense, but we'd have a good time.
However, it's the presentation of the argument in form of a Twitter screencap that immensely and immediately enrages me.
I was trying to suss out why.
In other news, the manipulative effect of the internet is massive and worth thinking deeply about. You can read, for example, about the Search Engine Manipulation Effect here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Search_engine_manipulation_effectMind you, I'm not doing myself any favours by coming on 4chan—this place has actually evolved, by process of rapid natural selection, the worst, most clickbait-y headlines on the entire internet. The thread which doesn't enrage doesn't survive. But you can still find some rare insights here, and it's a nice place to visit when I feel braindead. Hmmm.
