Both. Most low level math like algebra, calculus, geometry, is just learning what the symbols mean then plugging and chugging, but once you get to higher level math that requires proofs then shit genuinely gets hard.

Intro combinatorics you'll want solid precalc abilities. Real analysis you should have basic calculus abilities. Most basic abstract algebra textbooks aimed at undergrads that I've seen, should require very little direct calc ability and so forth, but is probably going to be the hardest for you if you don't have good mathematical intuition anymore. I would start with finding basic textbooks for these, doing basic exercises, and then focusing on whatever you like the most out of them.
