Why do alphabet boys love Comp Sci and Mathematics majors? I'm both and I've gotten 100% response rate to my internship applications.

It is because those majors can provide crucial

an episode of the TV show NUMB3RS to see
this (probably) accurate interaction between the

We all (4chan) have our stances regarding the bowl of
government-grade alphabet soup being served
to us...but view this as just an opportunity for
math and CS majors to be useful. Especially
if they love someone like you very, very much.

A professor of mine worked for the NSA early in his career, they gave him a lot of free time to do research and he said it paid decent enough. I didn't ask for specifics but I know it was in cryptography. Sounds like a pretty good job ngl.

As to why they like us so much, I assume it's because the military has always looked to mathematicians for help in the past and that's just how it is. With CS they are basically mathematicians who specialize in computability stuff.

There's a well-known WW2 story about how the military asked statisticians where to put more plating on their planes and the answer is a bit unintuitive at first to people not well-versed in math so the military didn't believe it at first. There's stories like this for just about every war in history, even Napoleon consulted mathematicians on some artillery questions.

1. because they pay like shit compared to equivalent talent in the corporate world

2. tons of CS/math kids are stoners and won't put the bong down to get a job

3. the onboarding process can take up to a year to get all your clearances etc. and nobody wants to wait that long for some scrub GS position

i see sci is filled with idiots who, as per usual, do not know what they are talking about. what do you think most people in the fbi or cia actually do all day? please, allow me to tell you. they do paperwork. it's a fucking government job, what the hell else would they be doing? the vast majority of jobs are collecting making collating finding analyzing reports. endless emails. even in movies, for every fbi glowie there are ten or more teammates whose jobs it is to help the glowie, to provide the glowie with information and resources. realize that, even in movies, it stands to reason that each of those teammates must have other responsibilities, they must have a boss, they have other jobs to be done, paperwork unseen to the silver screen to be filed. why does the government want nerds like you? because you are better at excel than boomers. why does the government want math majors? think about it, you shouldn't even need to ask.
the military, though, that is a bit different. the vast majority of jobs are transportation and fixing the transportation. wow, it's just like the rest of the world's labour markets! isn't it interesting that just like in the private sector, most jobs end up being transportation? No, it's not interesting, you fucking dumbass. shit has to go places, man, and the autos need to be maintained. the thousands of incredibly shitty harriers do not fix themselves, and someone has to clean up the aircraft carriers. 80% waiting around, 10% bullshit paperwork and formations and meetings, 10% fixing things. That's the military on a good week. Assuming you're old enough to post here, you should be aware that a good military is a logistical machine. You should also be aware that a good covert agency helps said logistical machine. There would be no purpose to collecting every piece of information if there was nobody to inspect it after automatic processing/tagging.
