Theres a big difference between higher and lower mathematics imo. Being good at subjects like calculus and trig isn't an accomplishment, at least compared to higher subjects like abstract algebra and analysis. Personally I struggled with analysis a lot, but all my higher algebra classes were enjoyable and actually quite easy. Group theory in particular was nice.
