There have been studies(not yet peer-reviewed) that do indicate they indeed reduce the likelihood of transmission, also reducing the risk of serious illness(long covid) and hospitalisation is a bonus.

By the looks of your reply though your point seems orthogonal to mine. The article I posted is very recent and the first systematic study of real world effectiveness of infection prevention. I'm sure from when the article is that you wanted to post, but it may be obsolete by now. Also, you seem to imply that infection prevention is the only metric by which we should quantify effectiveness, but that doesn't hold up since effectiveness against disease is critical too. That effect lasts quite long, as we've just seen.

Misses the point. Vaccine immunity and natural immunity are non-mutually exclusive. On top of that, once you've been vaccinated and end up infected anyway, you won't be as likely to become seriously ill so end up with the benefit with less of the risk.
