Their average IQ hovered around 85 and they never invented the wheel or built anything of significance despite having a trade network via the Mississippi river that connected them to civilization in South America. Even the horses that they're famous for riding were imported from Europe. Before white people, they just slowly trudged around on foot, or in wooden "canoes" that didn't amount to more than half of a hollowed-out tree trunk.
I wouldn't deny that they are still thinking, feeling humans but it's only moral relativity and historical revisionism that allows people to argue that conquering the continent, repelling the savages, and establishing civilization wasn't an unqualified moral good.
