I'm sure many people here read good science fiction books. Good books that fueled fantasies about aliens, space exploration; stories about fantastic, wonderful, and horrible things. I'm sure we all felt disappointment when we realized those stories would remain just that, stories. None of us will meet aliens, none of us will ever know that Humanity is not alone. All we can do to stoke those feelings we felt when we read science fiction is practice escapism, second-hand unfulfilling experiences which relate to the real thing like porn relates to sex.

But what if we are already not alone? We are surrounded by other beings, animals, our lesser brothers and sisters. If they were given a more divine, human-like form, endowed with reason and language, and taught proper behavior while maintaining an endearing simplicity, would Humanity really be alone?
