I just find it substantially less likely that there's no truth whatsoever to the paranormal. I feel a magic in the air, the grass, the trees, etc. - explaining their mechanics doesn't make those any less magical, i.e. it doesn't explain why or how those mechanics were there in the first place.
And isn't your approach based in the presupposition that there's nothing outside the material? That there aren't things that exist whose properties defy any expectations of direct physical proof?
