And literally this fact has been stretched as to so say our conscious observation actually affects the world... In reality it effects the world in the same way us existing implicitly does. there's nothing actually meaningful behind the idea that consciousness or observation influence anything.
rather like the rational approach, when photons hit things they interact with them and depending on what they hit they change in different ways. yeah we cant measure them without forcing them to hit things, yeah we cant directly observe where an electron is... but they're always still there regardless if a human or anything is 'looking' at them. it almost sounds crazy but yes what you were taught was the truth being stretched into a philosophical falsehood that has nothing to do with the actual particle physics behind the phenomenon in the real double slit experiment
