They do work. The spike occured after Singapire lifted most of its COVID restrictions and increased testing.

Vaccination rate does matter, the spike would be worse without vaccinations. Since Singapore had strong restrictions from the start and low spikes, this reaction is completely predictable.

In other words, the vaccinations are doing little in terms of immunity from infection.

But Singapore is shutting down again, so their over 80% fully vaccinated rate still isn't good enough. When will it be good enough?

Yes and no.
They stop 80-90% of people who'd be hospitalized or get severe COVID from being hospitalized or getting severe COVID.
They're pretty shit at controlling spread or preventing asymptomatic or minor symptomatic infection.

Covid vaccines don't work to prevent the shutdown of societies. When covid spreads through a highly vaccinated population that has little risk of hospitalization, governments still use it as an excuse to shut everything down.

how the fuck would they know this? did they have some time machine to see what happened to a group of unvaccinated after you went back in time and gave them the vaccine?

This is undoubtedly true. And Singapore's example shows that it doesn't matter how high the vaccination rate gets in the USA, the government will never be satisified.
