if you have a bunch of numbers, let's say 1 to 10, then anything bigger than 10 is an upper bound, so 11 is an upper bound to 10, 13 is also an upper bound, 1340 is also an upper bound and so on. The smallest upper bound of this set is 10, this is the supremum.
The infimum is the same thing but from the bottom direction.

cont. so depending on the direction the sequence goes, your limit may be the supremum or the infimum and the first element be the other thing.
