Can you "see" that this doesn't really belong here? Why are high school sophomores who are in honors math so against i and similar things? Is it just because your mom made you take it and you don't even like math?

i is nothing don't even worry about i. If you have a number, and it ends up being a square root of a negative number, the only thing you can do is separate the negative square root from the rest of the number and put it aside until you can square it and you're back to comfy safety of normal numbers
