my honest opinion is that most “religious” people who happen to be smart and rich are actually, and (if you can sit them down and talk to them) totally cynical and believe in nothing but the cold hard facts of reality. if a rich dude i considers himself “religious” it is usually not hard to get him to admit that in reality things are cold and dark, and that religion simply is a team game of “us vs them”. it’s just picking teams in the end
