2) I would say that homophobia does indeed have a biological cause. Humans inherently gravitate towards those that are similar to themselves. They form cliques and shun those that are different. Hence racism, hence homophobia, hence religious wars, etc. That fear of difference and shunning is genetic, I believe, as in the distant past it allowed people to stay together and support each others needs. Humans tend to not be solitary animals.
Probably unimportant, but I am gay. I did not choose to be gay. It just is the way it is.
And I think that many homophobic people also cannot help their irrational fear. Its just the way it is.
