Hypothetically, and I don't guarantee your safety, how much easier would it be for you to sustain fusion if provided with a magical containment field that doesn't require physical energy to operate continuously?

It's a knee-jerk reaction from overexposure to them. You could tiptoe around that by prefacing all such musings, something to the effect of producing "we all know the current difficulties with X, specifically Y requiring Z, but if we could handwave Z or even Y away for a thought experiment what would that mean for A, B and C?" With the (hopefully) obvious consequence of maybe discovering of a novel approach. It all depends on whether there are enough anons like him already to justify the effort.

No, since people do not have a close relationship with their current mode of energy production. A well-meaning scientist with a functioning fusion reactor will have some difficulties trying to publishing any papers about it if they can't discuss the theory of magic behind it. Public acknowledgement beyond this thread isn't required for stable interaction.

To serious people I mean. If you can actually create something that safely contains the energy of an active fusion process, with no material to act as a conduit for the containment field, we should be able to measure it. By any real standard this would prove magic of some kind.
