I'm in my final year of my statistics undergrad and am anxious about graduating. I've been applying to various junior data analyst/intern positions but no one is interested in even interviewing me. Many of my peers in school compete in hackathons and code personal projects and I worry that I can't stand out to prospective employers. I've never put in more than minimum effort in school. I don't have it in me to go to grad school.
My backup plan is marine trades, but I will keep trying for stat-related jobs in the meantime. I can code in R and have heard that this is a highly sought after skill in the job market.
Does anyone have advice for an underachieving undergrad trying to break into commercial work?
