Spacial intelligence is more how well you can visualize and manipulate shapes in your mind (for example, imagine spinning a cube different directions in your mind), and verbal intelligence is word-related logic (like unscrambling words) which can rely a bit more on existing knowledge. For this reason people see them as different things, despite them having some sort of correlation (people with high spacial iq are more likely to have high verbal iq). Maybe they want to separate them so that they can discuss their strengths and weaknesses more thoroughly rather than generalizing intelligence as a whole. For example, I have far better spacial intelligence than I do verbal. Logic and reasoning is how you can come to a conclusion for the missing matrix using existing information. Use of logic in the real world may be seeing cause and effect of different financial factors and using these to capitalize and make money.
