Those galaxies are super dark and need hours and even days of exposure to collect the light from. Having to point through the atmosphere for that long you get too much random extra light hitting your telescope and the image is shit

To add on to this (different anon) I assume even on a perfect earth barren of light pollution the atmospheric effects would still fuck you up, you essentially have a giant uncontrollable fluid you have to look through that scatters all sorts of unmanageable light. And I don't know how good telescopes have gotten with mitigating atmospheric disturbance (as far as I know they have gotten pretty good at it with adjustable mirrors and algorithms or whatever) but it's WAY easier just to not have an atmosphere between your telescope and your target in the first place and no algorithm will ever be perfect. Not to mention the fact that ground based telescopes are fixed in place on a rotating Earth so your subject is only visible for so long whereas in orbit you have much much much more time to view something

Why are they using 29 tiny engines instead of only 3 or 5 big ass ones. The complexity seems like a fatal flaw if you ask me. Imagine a car with 24 tiny cylinders vs one with just 4.

Imagine building a giant 1 mile long bridge once a year vs building small 1 meter bridges that you can build once a week. If one fails, it would cost $100+ million vs $250K. Lot more opportunity to fail, lot more opportunity to refine, lot more opportunity to test out, lot more opportunity to scale, etc.

It took them years to figure out why the F1 kept eating itself, and then once they knew why it took them just as long to fix the issue. It's a problem inherent to large rocket engines that scales up with size, to the point that it's not really worth the effort of trying to build engines much larger than the F1 when you can just have a bunch of small engines instead.

Plus there's not really any point in building gigantic engines anymore. Modern technology allows for lots of power in a much smaller package, just compare the thrust of a Raptor to an F1, and then compare their physical size.

They have a nice Starlink factory, mass produced Raptor factory, and Starbase in Texas. So they got quite a large profile there. Texas is winning big.

ULA's headquarters is in Centennial, Colorado, and their factory is in Decatur, Alabama. They do have a secondary facility in Harlington, Texas, but its definitely not home base.

They say that because palaeoclimatologists and geologists say it never rained enough in Egypt to cause this degree of water erosion in the time period in which egyptologists say the great sphinx existed. (Particularly since most of the sphinx was buried under sand most of the time.)

If the mainstream says pic related is wind erosion, then I hardly find your images persuasive evidence of water erosion.

That said most water erosion on Mars ended much longer ago and all that's happened since then has been wind and the occasional meteor strike. Any evidence of water erosion as clear as on the Sphinx has probably been worn down by wind over the millennia.

But anyways of course shit flying around for billions of years will weather and erode stuff. You get plenty of erosion on all solar system bodies just from cosmic ray and fragment impacts over long duration (space weathering). It's why the Moon isn't one solid body and introduce a fluid like an atmosphere and the effect gets amplified

Not entirely, bishop nicolas steno was a founding father of crystallography. The entire field/idea of biology and geological time came from naturalists who just had a ton of geology textbooks on hand and started thinking critically. And Wegener was scoffed at because he was a meteorologist and all other geologists thought he was over reaching his expertise by trying to apply geological time to plate movements. It's a fair concern I'm not going to disagree. But the evidence is very set in stone (literally lol). I studied planetary geology under a guy whose advisor's advisor was Carl Sagan and our whole project was proving sedimentary compaction couldn't have happened the way the literature suggested because of a discrepancy in water ("there was no water here, ever"). We got pretty far but we kept running into problems with the mineralogy of the area because alas it was doused in fluid-deposited minerals

I don't think you understand how much of a Goliath Boeing is, they're doing very well in aviation and most likely doing even better in various defense contracts. They are failing to perform in space compared to spacex but they have the commercial crew contact and multiple SLS launches contracted.they aren't suffering whatsoever and don't be so naive to think they won't be handed new pork after SLS.
