iq is supposed to tell us how generally intelligent someone is.
general intelligence is how well you perform across multiple/varying tasks as opposed to one.
the problem with iq is you can have someone whos kind of shitty at most things, but incredibly good at one thing and it will skew the results. this is why there are retards/'savants' with high iq.
despite having a high iq, a lot of these people are troubled with basic tasks of day to day life, which tells us they are not generally intelligent.
