in a way yes. I think our education system has changed to be either
1) preferable for women and minority learning which is basically just awarding irrationality

Hollywood is near dead, manga and anime is near dead, electronic games is near dead, the same thing (running out of original idea) is also happening in entertainment business

This sounds like a pretty reasonable explanation.
The amount of scientific innovation that came out of Germany in the late 19th and early 20th centuries is incredible.
The US managed to do well in science and technology in the latter half of the 20th century mainly because of the scientists they imported from Germany after WW2.

I remember a guy in the 18th century who looked down on science and math because "everything useful has already been discovered".
I also remember a guy in the 1940s who said in the whole world there was a market for at most five computers.
