Answer is you don't. All engineers are in it for the money. Nobody is studying/doing engineering because they have an "engineering mindset"

It greatly depends on what step of engineering is appealing to you. I love numerical analysis, finite element analysis especially. Simplifying hard systems of equations is fun. But maybe you like simplifying human systems or maybe you love manufacturing. Engineering is problem solving
