they made it so you dont type too fast it was really made for the typewriter because it would jam but people quickly relearnt the qwerty alphabet

You find it convenient, but it was meant to be less convenient so that typewriters would be able to keep up with the reduced typing speed. You're just used to it so it seems natural to you by now.
