1) Vast majority of VC analysts are profound midwits who probably can’t tell you the difference between a proton and an electron and are just there because they networked hard to get into Goldman after their management degree at some top 20 university
2) The VC sector is designed around groupthink. If Sequoia invests in something, then it’s assumed that they have the capital to make it into a billion dollar company no matter how retarded the tech is. This means that you’d be stupid not to invest in it too. By spending $1B on marketing you could probably get half the population of California to buy canned air: once theres big money in an industry more money gravitates in.
