>Is pursuing career in this field worth it? If you are interested in solid state physics it is worthwhile to know this. I am not sure if it is wise to be only in this area, but it is important in said field. If you are interested in new materials like multiferroics, perovskites or new type of semiconductors, XRD (x-ray diffraction, the main tool of any crystallographer) can actually let you have a good scientific career.
>Is it better to purely focus on synthetic chemistry?Do not know, but if you work with solid materials (aggregates of proteins, etc), XRD will still be a handy tool/skillset to have.
>How many crystallographers do you know? Are they content?I know several, not sure about their level of content
