If we can say that ideas are simply spliced into one another and that's how human progress is made, does that mean that original creativity just doesn't exist? Even "new waves" bred deep into cultures tend to just be responses to current ideas and trends but built on the exact opposite foundations, perpetuating the idea that original thought doesn't exist.
