What IQ is necessary to be good at math?

I was thinking of switching my major to engineering, but not sure if I'm high IQ enough. I got an A in calc 1 and an A in pre-calc

These are my IQ results :

Some of the biggest proofs in maths are proof that one thing is another thing or that a certain thing doesn't exist. You don't need a high IQ. Just perserverance.

most math is just repetition, not necessarily being smart. like >>13708878 said it's all perseverance. of course if you have a higher IQ, then math will be easier to learn and do, but having an IQ of 100 isn't gonna stop you from getting a degree.

If you just take your time with the material you should be fine, as long as the professors are alright and the textbooks aren't shite. But don't force it if you realize it isn't for you.

Worry more about time management, study habits/techniques, and your drive and motivation (things you can change) rather than your innate intelligence (something you cannot change).
You're fine, especially switching to engineering.

While a high IQ is obviously going to be boon for studying any subject, being of average intelligence won't prevent you from understanding the mathematics necessary for an Engineering degree.

What all do you have to learn, math-wise? I'm assuming calc 1/2/3, ODEs, and linear algebra? You'll be fine as long as you study, none of those classes are particularly difficult.

It is not possible to pass Calc 2 with an IQ below 118-120

t. 30 year old uni drop out who studied for calc 2 three times 8-10 hours a day for 1.5 years with an IQ of 105.

I think this is correct, though I suspect you'll have to work harder for it than most of your classmates, who will probably be 115-130. Khan Academy, 3Blue1Brown, and every resource you can find will be your friends.

Wise words right here. IQ tests were first designed to detect people with low IQ. From average score onward, it just mostly show how good you are at taking IQ tests.

Exactly, and I think that studying mathematics helps with taking IQ tests, take pic related for example, it's just cyclic permutations
