Had a dream about this. If a ball is in an infinite 3d space concealed behind a door and the ball is 50 feet or so away from the door, what path is it going to take once forces like earth's gravity starts interacting with it?

if there is an infinite empty space the pressure differential as the atmosphere attempts to rush in would blast the human and the ball away from the door. Assuming equal atmosphere the force of gravity would act through the magical door that acts like a portal to the "standard 3D" world pulling the ball towards the door. It would probably make a fascinatingly shaped gravity well if it's asymmetrical through the open door, ie. the back doesn't exist.

Then there is also the question of how exactly gravity works going through the door. Would gravity go towards the door with a sharp cut off or would it be a smooth transition?

An example of a smooth transition would be like if you set the ball in front of the door and it rolls backwards away from the door due to the curve of gravity.

We used to think that the heavens sat on fixed crystal spheres and the idea that they could float freely in space was absurd nonsense. Outside the gravity is all downward, none points through the door frame so it doesn't go in. However the metric expansion of space will push in and slowly increase the ball-door distance.

Assuming the universe is expanding with the earth, shed and the infinite space inside the shed, I would say that the ball with 0 momentum would instantly accelerate in direction of the expanding universe, but also it would'nt move at all since we are already moving with the expanding universe. (assuming the ball can't deform)
