What could be behind the recent increase in excess death attributed to cardiac problems?

It seems like staying inside all the time might be bad for our health. Vaccine induced myocarditis could also be a contributing factor.

Damage done to the body by Covid infections. The virus infects the heart, and obviously if you're getting multiple infections it's going to cause some damage in there.

Also note that this peak lasted from March to June 2020, well before vaccines even began to be distributed or even existed. Your article is merely a continuation of the trend of us seeing elevated cardiovascular deaths, which pretty much completely rules out vaccines as a possible cause.

No, it does no suggest that at all. You're once again conflating an infection with being un-"vaccinated" against that infection. You've neglected two things: not everyone gets infected and the "vaccinated" do get infected.

It’s an endemic respiratory disease with a higher R0 than the flu, everyone will get infected, many times over a lifetime. As for severity, the observational and clinical evidence that vaccinations reduce severity of disease, at least for a 6-month period, are overwhelming.

What about the fact that almost everyone on earth is probably living a slightly more sedentary lifestyle than 2 years ago, and in fact, for many people their lives are significantly more sedentary? Or what about the fact that many people have not/are not able to access non-emergency medical care in many places?

Cardiovascular incidents peaked March-June 2020, so within 2 months of the first wave starting. Cardiovascular diseases are compounded by decades of poor health choices as well as age. Nobody's physical fitness will deteriorate so profoundly from hanging out at home for a few weeks that they go from healthy to a heart attack.
