Lets not think of anki as an app right now, instead think of it as a flashcard made of paper.
*Note-type = paper you will write on.
*Note = information your write on the paper.
Within a Note-Type are what anki calls "Fields" and "Card-Types."
*Fields - Think of them as what you will use to separate ur written information, like the horizontal lines on Notebook paper.
*Card-types are where you will edit the look and feel of your Flashcard using HTML and CSS. but in actuality you only need to know one thing:
Put the name of your *Field in curly brackets{ } for it show up on the front or back of your flashcard.
Lastly, Cards. Cards are the Finished product and what will be generated once you've chosen your Note-type, inputted text, and edited the card-type.
