If LHC succeed, we gain incremental knowledge on fundamental physics, with no real practical application whatsoever in the near future. If LHC failed, and failed in this one particular way that it created black hole, it would've ended the only intelligent being and civilization in the universe that we know of. This is how retarded it is, putting infinity term like "gain all", or with regards to LHC "lose all" into the equation. The probability of LHC creating a black hole from some fundamental physics we dont understand is not zero, but something like 10^- 50 chance. Doesn't matter, if you multiply by infinity you get infinity risk.
