LSD in particular is very abstract. Your brain stops producing direct and obvious meaning, it becomes loose in all areas. You have to know that what comes to you is a representation of the headspace, so try to look beyond the representation and at what it represents.
Ultimately all of these drugs eventually shut down or diminish the Default Mode Network activity in the brain. As a result, you stop feeling any sense of self and other. It is acutely obvious that your sight is not happening "out there" but in your mind (which interprets sense data to spit out these sensory experiences even sober). "We are one" is a meme saying for hippy drug users for a reason, because that is ultimately the direction all psychedelics lead to, which is the same insight came upon by the Buddha etc who didn't smoke drugs.
In brain scanners monks in a state of meditation also show reduced Default Mode Network activity as is the case when a person ingests psychedelic drugs.
