The fact that a large portion of people misunderstand science as being subjective speaks to a failure in education.
Well educated people often repeat phrases like "Science tells us we should do this or that". But science does not and can not command, advise or suggest. It's devoid of all subjective value judgement of one thing being better or worse than any other.
Science is a method for falsifying truth claims, nothing more.
