You don't need a study to tell you that a cover over you mouth prevent droplets from shooting out of it when you cough or scream, and the problems of having sick people doing that. But that has nothing to do with 95% of the situations where masks are being mandated.

If that was the case, we should ban cars, because some people cause accidents, we should ban planes, because there have been some accidents and some people used it to do a terrorist attack, maybe we should preventively put an ankle bracelet on everyone, since there are relatively a few people who commit crimes.
