Is Supersymmetry w.r.t. the Standard Model an ad hoc theory considering the fine tuning of the Higgs field or is there any actual experimental evidence supporting it?

What do you mean by "supporting evidence"?
It explains certain observations better than some other suggestions do.
If that does not count for you, you need to stay away from science.

Like the fact that the Higgs has a very small mass.

that's kind of what I meant by ad hoc. It seems to me that supersymmetry was proposed as an explanation after the higg's mass was measured rather than predicting it. AFAIK the LHC has not produced any evidence supporting supersymmetry. I'm not a physicist though so that's why I'm asking.

supersymmetry was an explanation for the low mass of all the particles we have observed long before the mass of the higgs was measured. so while the higgs mass could be explained by supersymmetry it's not proof of it. there is no other supporting evidence and other theories exist

That seems a fair enough point.
I am also not a physicist. What I gather is that the theory could be invented to
explain the missing mass of Higgs. But very little if any further experimental
evidence has appeared so far to support it.
However, if unrealistically high energies are required to get decisive answers,
then the lack of confirmation does not point in any direction.

is that because of self-energy? to yield an effective mass so close to zero you need strangely specific values for the fundamental mass and the renormalization corrections, right? Or am I misunderstanding the problem
