Can people lose the ability to hear specific voices? This may seem strange but I work with elderly people and I have noticed a trend. Older men who have decent hearing unless it's their wife. It may sound like the men are simply ignoring their wives but I do not believe that is the case based on recurring evidence I've seen. It happens during a conversation. It's like they can't hear their wives and it doesn't change like they're faking it, they lean in very genuinely and politely ask pardon, but their wives are speaking much louder than me. What could case this?
