>>13683529There is something to these substances but it's not something where, like, you smoke it and your mental illnesses are permanently gone. Ibogaine can cure addiction outright and the afterglow from psychedelics can make a person temporarily more mentally sound.
I'd say with psychedelics, LSD reveals things in abstraction (this is why teens without heavy mystical understanding can't verbalize or complete their revelations while on acid), DMT is more direct but also very nonsensical and the odds of a meaninful trip are very slim. Say 5% or less. Giving it to a friend after promising they will find the Godhead etc, they are almost sure to be disappointed.
I have a lot of experience with these substances. The best way to use DMT is to meditate yourself into a somewhat deep state then smoke a small amount. When large amounts of DMT are smoked, it becomes like Salvia where it takes over all faculties and everything is too fast and chaotic to get anything out of... For example, what is insightful about smoking a tonne of DMT and seeing my friend as a juvenile chef with a face made of diamonds warping around the room? Where is the deep insight in that? Or in seeing weird creatures playing keepy uppies with soccer balls?
The insight comes from disintegration of the self/other divide and ego dissolution. But this is very metaphysical. Ayahuasca might be more personal to the ego. DMT bypasses ego and goes to metaphysics. There is so much I could say about these substances and my experience with them.
