The void can be found just as a researcher would find particles under an electron microscope. But it is very difficult... If someone said "your" consciousness continues as a goat or something, you would feel okay with that. Because the mind is like a parasite and via evolution plays a game of convincing its sense of self that it is what you are... So the mind gets relief from the idea that it has "ownership" over some part of it that continues forever.
This is simply untrue. Just like a thought appears to you from nothing (yes before even conception in the unconscious mind) and disappears back into nothing. That is where your mind is going. Consciousness is going nowhere. But it's not yours, and the understanding that the mind is in fact something owned by IT is hard to grasp.
You simply retract back into your true nature which is infinity, formless, nothing. There is nowhere to go, because there is only this.
